Top Six Fastest Manufactured Japanese Cars of All Time!

The passion for speed and performance sports cars is universal, but this passion holds a particular prominence in Japan. Over the years, legendary track-burning cars have come from shops bearing the names of Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Honda. Even Subaru, a brand that goes out of its way to emphasize its family sedans, has delivered a road scorcher or two only worthy of the fast lane.

5.Honda/Acura NSX-R

The Honda NSX, marketed as Acura NSX in North America, is a 2-seater, mid-engine sports car manufactured by Honda. The first-generation prototype debuted in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show under the developmental code name NS-X, which represented "New", "Sports Car" and "eXperimental". The prototypes name was later adopted as the official name of the production model, with a slight change to NSX. The rear-wheel drive two-seater was the first car from Honda with an all-aluminium body. Powered by an all-aluminium V6 engine, it featured Honda's VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) system developed in the 1980s.

As Honda buffs gear up for the arrival and resurrection of several models in the next few years, perhaps the most anticipated is the NSX. Although the NSX was moved under the Acura name and will be brought back under the Acura name, it started its life as a Honda. When the NSX hit the scene, it easily became the company’s fastest vehicle. The NSX could rocket from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds, and also reach a top speed of over 140 miles per hour.

4.Subaru WRX STI

Subaru Hatchback 2015 WRX STI packs a turbocharged Boxer engine capable of 305 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque. Motor Trend took a less capable STI model to the track in 2008 and hit 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. Based on that mark, the tester of the 2015 model considered Subaru’s estimate of 5.1 seconds a standard on which drivers could improve. In any event, there are thrills aplenty in this very fast yet humble car.
