7. MazdaSpeed 6
The MazdaSpeed 6 might not be the best premium sedan but it is the performance version of the standard 6 sedan, and it comes with quite a few upticks, as the stats prove. The MazdaSpeed 6 matches the MX-6 LS in quickness, both attaining 0-60 times of 6.2 seconds, but the 6 is vastly more powerful. The 6 belts out 274 horsepower from a turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine, along with an impressive 280 pound-feet of torque. The MazdaSpeed 6 is a true performance sedan, and yet it still wasn’t able to crack the top five of Mazda’s quickest. Still, for a fast and capable — yet speedy — car, there are few finer choices than the MazdaSpeed 6.

Having hooned a couple of Audis powered by this engine (RS4 and R8) around the Infineon track, I can state that revving the absolute piss out of an engine that boasts serious torque (over 300 foot-pounds) along with 414 (or 420 horses) and glorious V8 noise is what it's all about. Variations of the 40-valve Audi V8 engine have found homes in engine compartments all over the VW/Audi product line, in everything from the Tuareg to the C5 RS6, with horsepower ranging from the low 300s!
