Mazda Miata
Here it is – out favourite, which unfortunately won’t be making our top list today. Soon it’s going to be replaced by the ND – a car we haven’t had the chance to try out yet, so for now Miata won’t be part the best performance cars for less than $30,000. But then – let’s see!
Honda Civic Si
A car that was once a great performance coupe for less than $30,000 is now a poorer version of its former self. Actually – just think about it – have you seen a brand new Civic Si on the road? Exactly! The Si used to be something, but when it switched to a 2.4 liter VTEC it completely lost its charm. Also, it does look like Pep Boys accessories department have created the design. What happened to the car which the high school boys adorned and were so patiently saving up for?
Nissan Juke Nismo RS
So, first the Juke is neither a crossover nor a hatchback. In its basic version it can’t be called a performance vehicle either, but it’s okay to drive. The Nismo is a good car, but then there is the RS. And the RS is a freaking mess with its mad-sounding torque and dull steering.
The clutch is also lifeless and rather than a proper gearbox, you’ll find a stick wedged in drying mud. Also, you won’t be able to get a manual with the torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, so you have to get used to driving a CVT instead. The only thing that’s worth it is the set of seat it has. But that’s hardly an adequate reason to spend any money on the RS. If anything there is the Nismo – just get it instead and forget about the RS.
