Trump made one very disturbing statement just before entering the white house. He stated that there is an idea of creating and raising the import tariffs of up to almost 35% to force both foreign and domestic companies to build and assemble here in the U.S.

how many processes go into making of a car, how much was made here and how much of it outside of the US. It also show which cars are barely making a dime and are already in hardship.
Based on the data provided, only speculations can be made. Although one thing is for sure, sports cars will feel the hit first as opposed to family sedans and compact SUV vehicles . So lets have a look at what will happen if Trump introduces the 35% tariff.

The little Fiesta made quite a boom when it was reintroduced to the US market. It's a fun little nimble sports car that is quite capable and extremely fun to drive. The car is a good all rounder, it has a nice cabin, decent engines (ST), economical and quite practical. Unfortunately there are some circumstances that are not working in its favor.
Most of its units are made in Mexico and the car will not fade away only because of the import taxes, what's hurting it the most is the car's downfall in recent years. Like it or not this is mostly because of us, because of the low prices we are seemingly buying more and more SUVs lately.

No one can say for sure if, when or how Trump will pass this new legislation, but one thing is for sure it will surely bring hard times upon foreign manufacturers. That put aside, these models are already struggle to cope by and they will probably fade on their own even if Trump doesn't interfere.
